Accessibility – The Captioning Workflow and New DOJ Rule

This session will walk attendees through using the Captioning Decision Tree and Workflow to best manage their unit resources to meet the new DOJ Rule requirements for live and postproduction captioning. This session will introduce a new third party AI captioning resource Echo Labs Casper. This course is targeted to individuals and teams who manage captioning videos for their units/areas.

New DOJ Rule on Web/App Accessibility: The Impact on Your Role at Penn State

The US Department of Justice has published a new Title II section, H of the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure that the services, programs, and activities offered by State and local government entities to the public via web content and mobile apps are accessible to individuals with disabilities. This session will discuss the new rule, its implications for the University and identify tools and training options to help ensure the University meets the rule compliance deadline of April 24, 2026.
