In order to keep up with the speed of technological advances and accommodate the needs of diverse audiences, a one-size-fits-all approach to technology training is not a viable strategy. For these reasons, IT Learning & Development (ITLD) has spent the past year expanding its range of training methods, focusing on eLearning and asynchronous resources, in addition to live instruction, to better meet the needs of Penn State faculty and staff. Therefore, in this session, ITLD will share its approach to effective technology training at Penn State and highlight some of the opportunities and challenges that inform their work. Participants will also be introduced to some of ITLD’s recent eLearning resources, learning paths, and live sessions that are available to them.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
1. Identify common barriers to effective technology training.
2. Recognize the importance of considering audience needs.
3. Compare the benefits and drawbacks of synchronous and asynchronous training.
4. Explore the variety of ITLD’s resource modalities.
