Chris Lucas is associate vice president for Academic Technologies & Customer Experience, a department within Penn State IT. Most recently, he also served as interim vice president for information technology and chief information officer at the Pennsylvania State University, where he led the University’s information technology enterprise and provided strategic leadership for the 1,200 IT professionals across all colleges, campuses and administrative units.
He also is co-leading the IT Optimized Service Team workstream, one of five teams dedicated to reimagining shared support and services. The multi-year initiative's goals are to optimize business practices, enhance service and support across the University, and create career pathways and development opportunities for staff.
Lucas has spoken at several conferences, including EDUCAUSE, the EDUCAUSE Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference, the New Media Consortium Summer Conference, the Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services annual conference, ServiceNow's Knowledge conference and the Lynda.com Learning Summit by LinkedIn.
Lucas is a graduate of the EDUCAUSE Institute Learning Technology Leadership Program, EDUCAUSE Leading Change Institute, and EDUCAUSE Senior Director Seminar. He is a Certified Business Relationship Manager and has certifications in ITIL Foundations, ITIL Strategy and Prosci’s Change Management Methodology. He also has Business Relationship Management Professional certification.
Lucas earned a master of education degree in instructional systems from Penn State and a bachelor of science degree in communications media from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
