IT projects deliver technical solutions that then become operationalized as services. But in some units, the project ends as soon as the technology goes live, leading to little or no documentation, no hand off to the support team, and lack of closure for the customer, who still sees the project manager or lead developer as their contact for any future questions. This can become unsustainable over time for both the project teams and the service management team.

In this presentation, the project management manager and the IT service manager from OOE IT will share how we as an organization have collaborated to create repeatable project processes that help us meet our goals to ensure project deliverables become documented, supported services in our service portfolio.

Outcomes:

  • Tell our story of collaboration between IT Project management and IT Service Management
  • Share the goals of each area
  • Share how our two areas have collaborated for success
  • Share specific examples and lessons learned over more than three years of effort to improve our collaboration
