Our business partners at Penn State have a number of problems that they look for IT to solve. Often, they come to us with an IT solution in hand, and just want us to implement. Or we have a standard IT solution that we implement with little thought to if it's the best solution for the problem or what the long-term cost may be. However, as budgets get tighter and IT teams become smaller, IT units need to be more thoughtful about the solutions we put in place. IT solutions become IT services, and we need to consider with our partners which solution will be the best to meet their needs, while also being the most economical for long-term support and cost.

In OOE IT, we have started working on a solutioning and design process that allows IT project teams to develop and review with clients and IT leadership the possible solutions for the business need, along with our best projection at long term cost and support. We have also implemented a review process to ensure our solutions fit into a larger enterprise-wide plan for IT.
