Obtaining feedback from key stakeholders and users for programs, services, and implemented technology is a critical part of any team’s success. In this session, Teaching and Learning with Technology(TLT) will discuss how two advisory groups, one comprised of students and the other of faculty, were created. Topics will include rationale for committee formation, recruitment strategies (with special attention paid to representation from Commonwealth Campuses, World Campus, and diversity among faculty and student populations), how to establish a committee structure, examples of meeting agendas, engagement strategies including activities and feedback mechanisms, and tips for managing turnover and succession planning. TLT will also discuss opportunities for engagements with these advisory groups.

Outcomes:

  • Outline process for IT groups to engage advisory boards with feedback opportunities.
  • List effective methods for recruiting diverse and committed faculty/student board members.
  • Review the techniques of guiding discussions, soliciting input, and making informed decisions of feedback on programs, services, and technology implementation.
  • Sharing best practices for incorporating relevant user experiences to keep board members engaged.
  • List methods to manage committee turnover, ensure continuity, and build collaborative partnerships.
